Symptom free novel coronavirus population is good news, why we let our blood run cold
Time has come; people of India must ask what is not known about
novel coronavirus, the disease caused by the virus, named as COVID 19 and the
possible susceptibility factors. About
the virus, reasonable scientific details are known. About the disease COVID 19 is also known to a
great extent to all of us.
In India, compared other countries, most of the people who
are tested positive for coronavirus are asymptomatic, meaning they do not show
any signs and symptoms of the disease.
Those who suffer from various co-morbidities are the primary target of
the virus and they are likely to develop COVID 19 and likely to die.
When we know the etiological agent, its mode of spread,
susceptible population, vulnerable or risk group and finally the likely
asymptomatic carriers of the virus, what is our problem in protecting and
safeguarding our risk group population without lockdown?
Should we not handover
the responsibility of protecting our elders and the most risk group to our
younger population? Should we not let
the least susceptible group to take the virus head on and develop immunity so
that another mutant half-brother or hall-sister of novel corona if emerges in
future, cannot pose threat our then generation.
When we know the
details of coronavirus and have all relevant data points, what is our problem
in evolving a practical strategy to address the challenge? Why the government
of India should freeze and immobilize the country and self-pat such unwise and
most disastrous measure as wonderful step and great leadership.
Whenever a new born baby comes to our family, irrespective of
the economic or educational status of people, all would care the new born child
and would keep the infant away from others, even from those close relatives and
friends fearing the infant may contract some infection. In every aspect, the child is protected from
infection and the care would be very high during winter months in India, if the
child is born during winter. Similarly
the elderly population is also well protected during different seasons owing to
the chance of infection and other health complications.
Our society is quite sensitive and responsible.
Therefore the responsibility of protecting the vulnerable
group in each family must be left to the respective families and the government
must limit its responsibility to create best health services in the event of
any medical emergency. Instead of
adopting a very simple and practical method, shutting down India, destroying
the economy, life and livelihood of millions and millions of people is the most
bizarre and unwise measure, only Modi
alone can think of such measure.
The WHO head has already confirmed the novel coronavirus is
going to stay with us for long time. It
means we have to prepare to live with the virus or else must gracefully allow
the virus to live through us.
Whenever the lock down is revoked, the virus is going to
bounce back and certainly the number of virus positive cases is going to
re-emerge alarmingly. To reach a
pandemic proportion, it may take some time.
How long Modi can lock down India to eliminate the virus from India? A
stitch in time may save nine only when the cloth is strong. If the cloth is
weak and its fabrics are worn out, even nine or 90 stiches are not going to
prove anything worthwhile.
Through the senseless lock down, sufficient awareness has
been created among people and every citizen is responsible to take care of own
health and the health of the relatives.
It is like every Indian, poor or rich knows how to save their
money. How much one saves in not always
in proportion to their earning but is based on their future anxiety and
concern. No government can tell its
citizens to save 10 or 20 percentage of their total income and it is left to
the people. The same way, government
must empower people and delegate the responsibility upon them and must take the
country forward.
A highly materialistic
country like India, life and livelihood are inseparable. If livelihood is separated and if we tell
people it is done to save the life, none would agree to such logic because they
live only though their livelihood and their only threat to their life is loss
of livelihood and not novel or ancient coronavirus.
The novelty of novel coronavirus may appeal only those who wants to know
more about the virus and not those perch over hunger and poverty and looking
out for some work to earn some means to sustain their heart to beat and lunges
to breathe.
The rally around the flag syndrome may have given some extra
ratings to Modi but the hungry man, the man who lost everything due to the
senseless lock down of Modi, will never rate Modi as great as before.
No government in the
history of India since independence has destroyed our economy like Modi.
The unfortunate part is that no prime minister in the last 30 years
has enjoyed absolute majority like Modi.
Absolute power brings absolute destruction because none can question
such leader and that is what is happening in India.
If Modi continues the lock down till 2024, we will have to
bear because Modi is democratically elected prime minister. If different regional parties have formed a coalition
government at the centre means, people have choice to pull down such government
but when the government is formed by a single party with absolute majority, it
is not stability and decisiveness the country gets but only total destruction
and collapse of our life and livelihood and that is what Modi has taught to
Indians.
Hope Indians will remember this harsh lesson when they enter
the next phase of democracy in 2024 and should not reduce their common sense to
the emotional rhetoric and appeals of Modi who may appear again at 8 p.m on
some day like Biblical Lucifer.
