Our Tom or Jerry game with coronavirus - Community transmission in India not just possible

We must ask the very basic question, are we not playing Tom and Jerry game with coronavirus?  Are we playing the role of Tom or Jerry in dealing novel coronavirus? 

Science has brought more confusion than anything worthwhile about the virus until now but liberally hammering upon the ‘novelty’ of the virus as an everlasting excuse and has shamelessly prostrated before ‘fear and ignorance’ to rescue itself from blasphemy in the hour of crisis where science should have played the role a great leader.   

In Tom and Jerry story, both the Tom and Jerry needs each other and one might go jobless without the other. The story also will be boring if there is no ‘trick and trap’ between Tom and Jerry.

If Jerry knows how to escape from Tom and the Tom also knows how to catch Jerry, the game goes on.  Finally Jerry alone wins.  Are we playing the role of Tom or Jerry?  It looks like we are playing the role of Tom, round the clock we are after Jerry to catch it but the Jerry is keep escaping and evolving various strategies to deal the Tom. 

The imaginary story of Tom and Jerry meant for the kindergarten children may entertain all of us but if we play the same game with novel coronavirus, game would produce nothing but disaster to our economy, employment and education.  Already the senseless lockdown has killed our economy and livelihood of millions.

The recent wisdom of WHO about the asymptomatic people may not transmit the virus to others is nothing but true science.  We must credit WHO for speaking at least a line of science at the end, although with fear.

A person remains asymptomatic only because of low viral load as the virus may not be multiplying in them or else the rate of multiplication may be extremely low and hence they remain asymptomatic.  People with mild symptoms also are technically unlikely to shed lots of virus because if the virus had multiplied in them in large numbers, they would have turned COVID 19 patient and will not remain with mild symptoms.  Therefore those who suffer from mild symptoms are also unlikely to transmit the virus to others.  

Then who really transmit the virus?  Possibly the COVID 19 patients and they may be the potential super spreaders of the virus. 

Whether the COVID 19 patients, during active pre-COVID 19 progression stage or when they turned into full blown COVID 19 are likely to shed more viruses and transmit the virus to others remain as million dollar question. 

Full blown COVID 19 patients are also unlikely to transmit the virus according to a report because the pathological revelations show relatively less viral load in them. The cytokine storm, swelling of both lungs and hypoxia are the considered causes of death of COVID 19 patients. The above pathological cascade is largely immune driven and not viral driven.  Further the mobility of full blown COVID 19 patient is highly restricted due to medical reason and hence they are unlikely to spread the virus in the community. 

The people after contracting the virus and progressing towards COVID 19 alone are likely to transmit the virus means, ICMR is quite right, the virus has not entered community level in India and will not also enter community level transmission because the proportion of COVID 19 patients at pre-progressive level and they getting sufficiently exposed to the community is quite limited.   

The larger question is how a virus that shows ‘so much of mild-ness’ in large proportion of our population could earn the global tag called deadly and scary?  When the virus failed to multiply effectively (?) in large proportion of the population means how such virus can be deadly and we can call it highly virulent, infective etc. 

Are we not then engaged in Tom and Jerry game with novel coronavirus? 

Science and the so called scientists can afford to play Tom and Jerry game with the virus either in public or in their laboratory, but can they freeze and euthanize our economy and livelihood because they wants to play Tom and Jerry game with novel coronavirus? 

Every day scientists and clinicians are coming up with newer and newer findings.  Today the blood group association has be accused as one of the vulnerability factors.  Only amateurish observation and correlation science alone is happening these days. The basic aspect of most such correlation studies must be viewed also from the popular saying in the statistics called “correlation is not causation” and it can be just a coincidence. 

Everyone wants sell ‘new science’ and hence ending up in manufacturing and selling ‘utter ignorance’ along with the pamphlet called fear. 

Obviously the science is not starving due to lack of funds but due to lack of understanding and knowledge.  Much before knowing anything about the virus, big story board was created and it looks like ‘some medical and scientific fraternity lobby’ wants to prove their assumptions are scientific and to make such thing happen, a new script may be getting prepared on daily basis.  Naturally our ruling political dispensation also may lend their wholehearted support to such science and only then our ruling dispensation also can mesmerize people that lockdown was a great success in curbing the virus and lockdown only had saved India and otherwise no Indian would have been alive today etc.

Everybody are busy in one way or other to sell their product, story, script or actions (policies, lockdown etc.,).  Is novel coronavirus also as busy as those who try to make hay while sunshine?  

Is coronavirus a pathogen or a new business opportunity in serendipity? Test kit, mask, sanitizer, hand wash, immune builders, new drugs for clinical trial, funding for vaccine, antibody test kit and associated research…… what is not happening around the virus?  

It looks like even if the virus disappears from terra firma, we may not let the virus to go because we need the virus for our new business goal.  We need the virus and only then we can play Tom and Jerry game. 

Let the world play Tom and Jerry game or sing Merry go round Mulberry bush… but let the economy, employment and education go free so that life would move forward. 

Let the science soon discover another new virus, the sister or half-brother of novel coronavirus by the next winter season but until then let the life move on. 

Already our economy has been totally destroyed by the senseless lockdown and only if the democracy returns, people can search something in the rumbles of our economy to rebuild their new life, if possible.  

Let us sensitize people and let people know how to protect their life.  Government must ensure treatment facility to people who are really sick and must stop testing, quarantine and declaring containment procedures.  We are crowning the coronavirus purely due to our ignorance but let us not make the world believe earth is flat and Pythagoras is wrong. 

India has many other worst health and medical challenges, acute unemployment problem, job loss, business houses are shutting their operation; people are going hopeless for electing such a decisive government that has done nothing but destroyed our economy. 

The damage of coronavirus in the entire world is far too less than the damage done by the senseless lockdown in India.  Neither we could catch the virus nor prevent the spread of the virus.  Except making people penniless and jobless, lockdown got us nothing.

Let the government realize the bitter truth that coronavirus if decides to live with us would remain harmless or else the virus may disappear.  Let us save India by bringing back democracy and complete freedom, let the novel coronavirus also enjoy such freedom and be a witness to it.
