Religion, Poverty, Politics and too much of ‘I’ leadership defeated the poor and middle income, India needs to learn a lot from India first than from West
The recent news relating to how people have defeated social
distancing rule to prevent Corona spread in Delhi is quite shocking. About 24 people have tested positive for
COVID 19 who attended the religious gathering at a mosque in Nizamuddin area in
Delhi. Nearly 441 people have been identified to have some symptoms and signs
of Corona and nearly 1548 people have been brought out of Nizamuddin.
Many people who attended the Islamic religious gathering
appears to have bothered the least about Corona infection and further many have
also flown back to their respective states and now many state governments are concerned
about the community spread of Corona through those who attended the Islamic
religious event in Nizamuddin Markaz. Some have died also due to Corona in the above
group.
The strict adherence to the religious faith sometime defeat
the purpose of social distancing however necessary may be such practice to
prevent the spread of several diseases reaching the proportion of epidemic and
pandemic.
If the central government take any stern action against such
people due to their advertent role in spreading the disease to others by
breaking the rule of social distancing, the entire opposition would take up the
issue and would make politics. They
would call such action to be anti-minority and partial towards some community
etc.
Politics and religion in India always go together, thanks to the
congress party that follows dynastic politics, corruption and minority
appeasement.
India should not allow religious beliefs and associated
politics by several tukede tukede gangs to defeat the larger interest of people
of India. No God on earth would ever demand
from the devotees to gather in large number and pray and only then the God
would be merciful. At times, we also
need to learn how to pray to God in isolation. Good to hear that Chief Minister of Delhi has
taken legal action against the offenders of Nizamuddin Markaz and hope that
Aravid kejriwal will not play vote bank politics and instead would seriously
pursue the matter and ensure the offenders are punished to an extent they never
dare to do such offence in future.
While considering politics and politics associated with religious
faiths and how both can impede the growth and safety of India, another
important issue called poverty of millions and millions of people in India also
we need to consider before taking any draconian measure like shut down India
for 21 days to prevent corona spread.
Too much of ‘I’ leadership or ‘Macho’ leadership will not
work for India because of the cultural, political, religious, social and
economic realities that prevail in India.
Central government should have also discussed about the importance of
lock down and social distancing with the religious leaders of various religions
to send out a message to the followers so that the faithful followers of
various religious practices are properly sensitized about social distancing.
Similarly the political immaturity of most of the opposition
party that destroys India also needs to be consulted with prior to lock down
India for 21 days at least to keep all those tukede tukede gangs silent for a
while and people follow the social distancing in letter not just in
spirit.
The central government has neglected the true issues of poor
and middle income groups in India and went ahead with lock down
unilaterally.
Expert medical advice or their western recipe alone is not
enough for the country like India to prevent the spread of any pathogen but
political, social and poverty linked issues also needs to be addressed before
taking any such draconian measure.
Without lock down for
21 days or with minimum restrictions, how the social distancing can be achieved
should have been the first option of the government. Sensitizing people can be achieved only
collectively and not though media advertisement or scaring people about Corona
or corona linked deaths. Every political
party in India, religious leaders, NGO’s etc., should have been roped in but
the ‘I’ alone is the leader and ‘I’ enjoys absolute majority therefore it is my
way and ‘I’ care a damn about anyone is also equally responsible for the
failure.
Government may justify that such situation has never occurred
in the past and hence has to learn from the pitfalls; in any case such learning
of the government is very costly and has come at the sorrow and tyranny of
millions and millions of people who voted Modi to power.
