Reciprocal contract-ism between COVID and medical science in India

 

It is always easy to move with the flow of water.  It is always nice if we can remain lazy and it is always merit the views of mass or mob is the general attitude of most Indians.   The hype and limelight given to COVID in India is also part of mob-psychology and not science or truth.

The question is not about whether COVID is real or jinx or hoax and even if COVID is true, it is just an ordinary flu which we have blown out of proportion, threatened and terrorized people and what we witness today is nothing but the consequence of what we have sowed.  Naturally our medical science reaps the reward and thanks to Modi for sowing the seeds of fear and threat over COVID a year ago and imposing a senseless nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of COVID.

Any new pathogen when enters a new ecosystem (host), the possibility of the pathogen acting in an unfashionable manner is quite natural because the host is unfamiliar and hence the new invader needs to understand the host and only then it can establish mutually rewarding relationship.  That is science.   The response is also vice versa from host. 

Although we call certain microbes as true pathogens and while others as opportunistic pathogens, in the evolutionary sense, both the groups of microbes (pathogen and parasite or opportunistic pathogen) would aspire to enter only to a reciprocal contract with man than fight with the host to eliminate the host and in the process, gets eliminated. 

When the terms and conditions of such contract are quite strict, rigorous, highly binding and partly one sided; the microbe becomes a pathogen or a parasite (opportunistic pathogen) resulting in harmony or imbalance between the host and the invader.  When the contract is fair in spirit and letter, both the host and the microbe benefits mutually and also need the other for the survival.  Probiotic microbes and commensal flora are the best examples for the above.   

The novel coronavirus is reported to be a new pathogen, jumped from bats and pangolin (both the animals cannot object or oppose to the human version) and then entered human world in 2019.   The virus has shown high speed to spread to everywhere and it looks like the virus has beaten the speed of light to spread all over earth.  If a virus can spread so fast means, it can have only two purposes such as a) kill man in toto, b) develop reciprocal contract-ism with man and live happily as man is the biggest host available to any pathogen on earth.   

All most all obligate human pathogens must have human as its reservoir and the reservoir is unlikely to suffer much from the pathogen and only then the pathogen can remain as an obligate human pathogen.  Or else, it must produce disease continuously in some pocket human population and when gets a chance, spread everywhere.   When a pathogen can remain silent in some of its host without producing the disease, it can be concluded with reasonable sense of confidence that the pathogen has entered bi-partisan agreement at least with the given host that the pathogen may not attack him or her and would attack only others around the host who are obviously weak and vulnerable.

Imagine, even a pathogen can enter mutually rewarding agreement with man means, how come COVID virus alone can go deadly as the virus is not a true pathogen and is known to cause simple flu like medical condition.  Won’t the virus understand that human host is necessary for its continuous survival and hence the virus cannot be deadly to the species called – Homo sapiens? 

As soon as the virus entered and navigated humans, especially Indians, we, the Indians would have tamed the virus instead of torturing it by imposing lockdown to break the chain.  Had we allowed normal life happening then, today we may have a significant proportion of our population having developed immunity against the virus, in other words, perfected the reciprocal contract-ism with the virus where both the parties may stands to gain.  Even in such circumstances also the most vulnerable may die and that is part of universal law.   Vulnerability and chronological age are not directly linked and hence those fall victim to the pathogen has to be termed vulnerable or susceptible from medical definition. 

India had acted differently and brutally against COVID by imitating the style of US or EU countries in the beginning.  India is the land of not only many great things culturally, spiritually and religiously, India is also the land of several deadly and most neglected pathogens, even today.  The question is whether COVID virus is more deadly than other pathogens?  None would give their answer in favour of the virus.  Then why we make hell out of COVID?

If we had allowed the first wave of COVID to pass through India without putting serious curbs and lockdowns, the virus would have learned a little about man and the struggle between the man and virus would have reduced and instead a perfect mutualistic agreement between man and virus would have been established by now.   But it looks like; our senseless politics has allowed the medical science to fix a deal with COVID, what is called reciprocal contract-ism.  Let us exist together, support each other and scratch each other’s back.   

Today, only disease that exists in India is COVID, only disease that spreads in India is COVID and only disease that cause death in India is COVID.  No other disease or pathogens has any role or space in India. 

If we make COVID bigger than the Lord of death – YAMA, India may face much bigger problem in near future, if YAMA decides to prove he is bigger and greater than COVID, then imagine the consequence?

When Lancet can take political stand in its editorial column to describe Modi in bad light, it is clear that politics has totally and fully polluted the science of COVID to an extent the ordinary man doubts COVID whether COVID is true or hoax.   

Before we save Indians, we also need to save India from COVID and that is possible only by infusing confidence in people that COVID is a simple flu and our nation need not be stopped to curb COVID.
